TEDx: What if resilience is built into every human being and IS the key to good Mental Health?

What if resilience is built into every human being and IS the key to good Mental Health?

In my recent TEDx talk I told my story to show how resilience is present in each and every one of us and how by building on our resilience we can all establish the foundations for lasting good mental health.

In this video you'll hear me talking about how I have faced a series of physical and emotional challenges that have tested me to the limit. A near fatal infection in my early teens, a stroke when I was 18, a personal battle with mental health, the loss of my partner to suicide… a relentless list of difficult life events that I have been able to endure and bounce back from, determined to help others. But how? I put it down to an in-built resilience that I believes we all have, and can nurture, so we can survive and even thrive in the face of adversity.

"Emotional, powerful and thought-provoking, Claire walks us though her story, talks about the tools that she has used to build her own resilience and reminds each and every one of us that we are more resilient than we think. TEDxPeterborough on Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at The Key Theatre. Our theme was Variety Is The Spice Of Life. Claire is a mother of two with a successful 20-year corporate career and the founder of Mental Health in Business Ltd – a mental health training business. Claire has lived experience of mental ill health and loss of a loved one due to suicide and she is determined to use her experience to help other people facing difficult times and mental health issues. She has trained as a Mental Health First Aider and Trainer with MHFA England and as a Coach; and is a committed volunteer with Samaritans. Claire speaks candidly and passionately about issues relating to mental health and suicide. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community."
